I want an easy way to define and use multiple agents. They would each serve different roles with access to different tools. A few roles off the top of my head: brainstorming, strategy reviews, writing assistant, proofreading and style checker, coding intern, task prioritization planner, philosophy tutor. I’m inspired by the Jobs to be Done framework from Clayton Christensen, each job should be an agent.
I need a better way to manage context for my agentic work. Thinking of setting up a new Obsidian vault.
Feeling the need to write documentation to codify my personal principles, desired best practices, domain language, and work preferences.
Fitness:
After a rigorous start to the year, I intentionally decided to “take it easy” with yoga in March, and I think I will continue that into April. I do 2 classes per week through an online website as maintenance and that’s been good enough for me. I also really enjoyed the weekendworkshop I attended.
I wonder if I can unlock Kandasana this year. Do I even want to?
Casually, I want to continue to build rotator cuff and thoracic stability as I work towards a > 15 second handstand and pincha mayurasana.
The weather is getting nice, so it’s cardio season. 1 hour of Zone 2 cardio per week might be a good starting goal.
Thinking of doing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu immersion this September.
Education:
I’m very curious about dreams, would like to read some Freud or Jung on the topic. Might start with Jung’s partial autobiography Memories, Dreams, Reflections.
Finish watching the excellent The Consequences of Ideas series by R.C. Sproul which is available on YouTube.
Would like to read some 19th century Russian literature soon: either one of Anna Karenina or Brothers Karamazov.
Interested in learning more about Marshall McLuhan’s “hot” and “cool” media theory, and whether there’s any link to brain wave states. I suspect that “hot” media might lower alpha and theta waves, similar to those generated by states of awe.
I experimented with some dream hypnosis this month. Didn’t really feel an effect, but I want to continue with it for at least another month.
Misc. Ideas & Thoughts:
Something that I call The Great Refactor is silently underway in corporate America. As productivity and technology advances, organizations are now doomed to remain archaic legacy structures from eras past. They are too big to fail though, so society allows them to continue as zombie theatres to maintain a sense of security. But this may be a false sense of security.
This podcast with Molly Mielke has me thinking about how important a skill it is to make yourself legible. Keeping this blog is an effort from me in that direction.
Thinking about how in heavily gate-kept topics on social media there are 4 types of influencers: intentionally gracious, unintentionally gracious, intentionally deceptive, unintentionally deceptive.
Publishing here daily is making me feel a bit rushed and shallow, rather than being able to produce more polished pieces that require sustained thought. I’m OK with this though, because I want to intentionally practice being OK with publishing less polished content.
John Ousterhout (Stanford comp sci professor) saying in a podcast that the people that struggled the most in his classes were those that did well in school early in life. They were so used to school feeling easy that they never developed good learning habits for when it wasn’t. I’m thinking a lot about bottlenecks lately, and this feels relevant.
