For the past month I’ve been having vivid dreams almost every night. I’ve started recording whatever I can recall in my notes app first thing when I wake up.
Freud and Jung both had a lot to say about dreams. Freud saw dreams as wish fulfillments, a way for repressed desires to resurface at night.
Jung saw dreams differently. He thought of them as messages from the unconscious to the conscious, offering guidance and balance that the waking mind tends to ignore.
I’m more familiar with Freud’s work, so I picked up some books on Jung from the library recently to explore his perspective as well.
One theme that keeps showing up in my dreams is that I’m driving a car and I can’t stop it. The brakes fail as I’m barreling ahead out of control. I’ve become so familiar with this dream that it doesn’t even stress me out anymore. It’s become like a roller coaster ride.
What is this dream trying to tell me?
