In 2026, I'm committing to doing 2 bold things every month. Research shows novel experiences slow down time.
At the turn of this new year, I was reflecting on 2025 and was astonished at just how fast it had flown by!
Around the same time, I came across some articles and research suggesting that novel and emotional experiences alter our perception of time, slowing it down.
The simple takeaway: if you want time to slow down, do more new and bold things.
By “bold” I mean something outside my normal routine that requires initiative, discomfort, or risk. Nothing too extreme or overwhelming — just different.
So I made a rule: 2 bold things every month
I’m excited to try this playful challenge out and see where it takes me. I’ll keep the list below updated as the months progress.
January
I flew to Miami for an intensive yoga immersion to deepen my practice of Ashtanga yoga, pranayama, and meditation.
Booked a 1 month bungalow in Atlanta to lock in, do creative work, and experiment with agentic engineering.
February
I did a 14-day business immersion — built a micro-SaaS, practiced cold-emailing some clients and partners, and practiced promotion, distribution, marketing, and sales. Coming from a career background as a full-time software engineer, this was way outside my comfort zone.
I embarked on a 13-day road trip exploring Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Drove 2,000+ miles over 6 weeks.
March
Started this blog and published every day for 20 days.
Connected 1-on-1 with 3 different online creators I admire and follow on social media.
